 A trivia night focused on weird laws, lawyer characters in literature, and the laws of writing. Hosted by local lawyer and former Springville Journal writer Ashley Lowry.Come wearing a wacky tie or blazer for the chance to win an extra prize!

Make-a-myth at Gather at the Gully, August 16th, 4-8pm, Behind East Main Street, entry by donation

Stop by the literary arts table to grab a free zine about WNY cryptids, and then assemble your own mythical creature from articulated paper doll kits based on local history. The Rustic Review will be available for purchase.

An Evening with Andrew Galarneau, September 18th, 6-8 pm, Art’s Café, free

 Andrew Galarneau talks about the state of journalism, his thirty-five-year career in print and his transition to online community journalism. Q&A to follow the presentation.

Author and Publisher Talk with Michael Parzymieso and Mark Pogodzinski, October 8th, 6-8pm, Art’s Café, free

 Horror author Michael Parzymieso will read from his debut novel The Dale. To embrace the spirit of the season, the reading will be accompanied by projection animations from classic horror films and musical backing reminiscent of silent movies. After the performance, publisher Mark Pogodzinski of NFB Publishing and Amelia Press will join Michael on stage to talk about independent publishing.

Writers Open Mic Featuring Dan Bryce and Stephen Wilger, November 12th, 6-8pm, Art’s Café, free

 Have you ever wondered what your writing would sound like as a song, or look like as a piece of art? Then join us at this special open mic night. As you read, musician Stephen Wilger will translate your work into music, and artist Dan Bryce will create an original piece of art inspired by it.
